If the pistol is for firing silver bullets (for werewolves I presume) that kit at least post-dates 1933 when the Lone Ranger radio show first aired. Silver bullets had never been part of werewolf mythology until Hollywood got it's hands on the tales and added the precious projectiles via said Texas Lawman. There's a lot of similar mash-ups that happened thru the movies, - the term 'gunslinger' originally described men who pulled cannons back into position once they had discharged, pirate movies bled the term into westerns. . .
Now there's a load of boring trivia to illuminate your evening. And by the way, did you know the word trivia actually means . . . (Snoring noises stage left.)

There was I logging in to drool over the New Horizon's catalogue for those must have pieces of kit every archaeologist needs for dealing with the undead. I mean we are forever being pestered by plagues of zombies, mummies, gouls, gohsties, werewolves, vampires etc as all film makers and authors know. So where is this essential kit lavishly illustrated by mr CR?

I always thought it was one of those initiation/initiative tests ie using locally sourced pegs without spending any money.
