Draft Charter for IfA - BAJR - 15th September 2012 Thanks to Noddy for highlighting this : In accordance with IfA?s strategic plan, in 2010 members were consulted about the desirability of the Institute seeking a Royal Charter of Incorporation. On that basis, at the 2011 AGM members passed a resolution mandating Council to submit an informal memorandum to the Privy Council Office (the first stage of the process). This has been done. At the same AGM, members considered an outline proposal for a more efficient, more representative governance structure comprising a smaller Board of Directors with legal responsibility for the management of the Institute, and a larger Advisory Council to advise on policy, strategy and potentially contentious issues. The Council of the Institute is now seeking members guidance regarding the draft Charter and by-laws. To access to full consultation documents, you need to be signed into the Members area of the website and follow the link below. www.archaeologists.net/consultationcharter Please reply by 12 October 2012. Members are also invited to take part in a consultation workshop at the AGM at 13:00 on 8 October 2012. You can consult these through the IfA website...... Draft Charter for IfA - Unitof1 - 9th October 2012 Quote:Very easy but such wit , does it say copyright anywhere on it, what other illiegales are there? Kev is that the memorandum that starts of by saying Quote:The Institute for Archaeologists is a trading name of the Institute of Field Archaeologists, and then to reiterate the confusion: Quote:1 The name of the Company (hereinafter called ‘the Institute’ is ‘THE INSTITUTE OF FIELD ARCHAEOLOGISTS’. but nowhere says what an archaeologist is or even what a field is? Have they kept up these farces in the charter? Draft Charter for IfA - Bodger51 - 9th October 2012 I think the options for the Chartership are reliant upon being able to establish a commercial scientific field. But this would entirely depend upon the determination of research value and commercialised grant provisions. I don't know if there is as yet the option for commercialising research value options, as I believe if you undertake a research qualification, the insititution holds the copyright alongside the research groups they are components of. This would suggest that the nature of research group inter-operability and research qualification innovations, would be established by research groups, whilst individually operated as a product line, where there is acceptable research grant impact provision. I think there is still a carte blanche arrangement of mutual risk between insitutions and research qualification seekers, in the losses proposed. You are also subject to inter-operable internal governance, where grant providers and independent financing will hold the key alongside observable acheivements. As for the sector as a whole, the publishing interest margins are fundamental, whilst data integrity elements will determine the role phasing and financial recompense. Hope that helps.
