CPD and Training at work - BAJR - 25th January 2013 This in from Amanda Forster and the IfA I am pulling together the next issue of The Archaeologist, in which we are spotlighting CPD, training and development. I would like to include a couple of pages of short tips for those seeking training.... something that can be difficult to achieve in whatever job you do. Any ideas of innovative ways of boosting your CPD hours? What was the last training you did? Do you keep up a personal development plan, and log your CPD hours? Do you know of any good online training opportunities, or other types of free and accessible CPD? Are you an employer who has a great programme of training and some advice for fellow employers; or an employee who have found a useful way of being trained on the job? Deadline is Feb 8th, with a bit of wriggle room.... If you are interested in providing something more in depth for the magazine, there is still a page or two to fill. I have included my email address below if you would rather send me something directly. Thanks in advance! Manda amanda.forster@archaeologists.net CPD and Training at work - archaeologyexile - 26th January 2013 One thing I'd like to suggest to this is that curators spend the odd day on a typical commercial site and actully watch how standard reccomendations are undertaken! I did this the other day and it was good fun but boy was it hard work! CPD and Training at work - chiz - 27th January 2013 Just for everyone's info as it is related, the Diggers' Forum are about to launch a new survey on CPD and training provision in UK commercial archaeology. It will be similar to our survey on Away work and travel (report at: http://www.archaeologists.net/sites/default/files/node-files/awaysurveyreport.pdf) and will hopefully give an equally valid perspective on what actually is going on out there and a basis on which to campaign for any improvements that may (or may not) be needed to create a better industry. And if anyone would like to help in the beta test please drop me a line. It shouldn't take more than 20 minutes and better than saying later that it wasn't the survey you wanted! The beta runs out on Sunday - so you have 72-odd hours to do it in... Cheers gwyl CPD and Training at work - Unitof1 - 31st January 2013 Does reading a site or a finds report constitute as cpd? |
