James Doeser - He's the MAN! - BAJR Host - 19th March 2007 Watching Uni Challenge today ... blow me if it ain't James Doeser.. Politics and Archaeology and quick button finger.. Go James ! Good to haev you at the Conference.. good to see you showing them archaeologists have a mind too! "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu James Doeser - He's the MAN! - gonetopot - 20th March 2007 Of course archaeologists are good on Uni. Challenge- they have lots of 'reading' time: ie. time to play quiz machines in the bar etc etc. Seriously though it is a broad subject that in its specialities covers a vast range of other subjects, perhaps Mr Host (or any one else) could think of a way to canvas archaeology graduates who have used their archaeological knowledge base to go on to success in disciplines outside archaeology. Any one have any now super-anuated filthy rich friends that graduated from archaeology (gizza fiver!?) :face-huh: James Doeser - He's the MAN! - 1man1desk - 21st March 2007 Posted by gonetopot: Quote:quote:perhaps Mr Host (or any one else) could think of a way to canvas archaeology graduates who have used their archaeological knowledge base to go on to success in disciplines outside archaeology. Any one have any now super-anuated filthy rich friends that graduated from archaeology (gizza fiver!?) Well, after 20 years in archaeology I recently moved into broader Environmental Impact Assessment coordination/management, and I seem to be doing OK at it. I'm not filthy rich, though. I also know others in EIA and other environmental fields who have degrees in archaeology, but have never practiced as archaeologists. It is worth noting that in the multi-disciplinary world of EIA archaeology is a core discipline, and often punches above its weight in terms of influence over project decision-making. This influence originates with PPG 16 and, to a lesser extent, with the fact that English Heritage is quite powerful compared some of the other national environmental regulators. 1man1desk to let, fully furnished James Doeser - He's the MAN! - Gog - 21st March 2007 Prince Charles No friend of mine, though, but he is most definitely filthy rich. Not sure about 'going on to success' though, as that depends on his old ma croaking. |
