The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - gumbo - 2nd December 2005 Thats v. good news. I work at North Pennines Archaeology and we are off from the 19th Dec. until the 2nd of Jan. This is sort of paid, but we have to use up about five days of annual leave. Looks like no lay-offs, although someone might be going anyway and Jan. is quite quiet at the moment. Would be interested to see what other units are doing... The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - troll - 2nd December 2005 Heard about this one t`other day... staff xmas party has been organised.Indian restaurant-diggers to pay ?15 a head.Work in the morning-afternnon off for the meal. When diggers pointed out that they would need to go home to wash and change first, they were told that they would have to use public toilets for this.Merry Xmas. The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - sniper - 2nd December 2005 our staff xmas party organised. digging staff only told on day of deadline for confirmation because invite had been put on the computer system that can only be accessed in the main office. no digging staff going in protest. but at least we got invited. ++ i spend my days rummaging around in dead people ++ The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - destroyer - 2nd December 2005 Gumbo - youre' off from the 19th and are muttering about having to take only 5 days holiday? Round here we all get 23rd-2nd off as the unit totally shuts down - thats what our annual paid leave is for. Round here everybody goes to agm and chrimbo dinner in final week, diggers and managers happily pulling each others crackers. Plus we all write off the last day and go down the pub where the management normally stretch to a few rounds. The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - Reggie - 3rd December 2005 Unit I'm working for at the mo closes on the 23rd for 2 weeks. Both weeks come out of the 4 weeks annual leave allowance. Seems a bit restrictive on personal choice and preference for when you take time off, especially if you actually have a life outside archaeology ! Dunno how long I will be working there though so might be all a bit academic.... I think I prefer to get paid extra on top of my hourly rate in lieu/advance of paid time off, which is how YAT pays contract diggers. This seems to me to be a more practical solution for people working short-term contracts. You can still take days off but you won't be paid on those days as you've already had the money up front. The GGAT Christmas Pay Plan - sniper - 3rd December 2005 yes, fantastic if on a short term project, not so great if you're still temporary staff but have been there a year and a half... ++ i spend my days rummaging around in dead people ++ |
