Skill Passport - BAJR Host - 9th May 2007 http://www.bajr.org/passport.htm here we are... on online preview of the prototype waved about at the IFA conference. To operate it... click the corners to turn pages... thoughts?? suggestions?? I am already thinking it should be linked to an online CPD log.. I should note that although the IFA logo appears on the passport, they are not endorsing this - I put it there only becuase they would be the best people to administer it (imho) however, it is a prototype ... apart from being awed at the technology... would a passport such as this which you carry with you... be the way forward? -- protecting the employer from dodgy CVs and giving the confidence to the employee to show just what they can do... ?? matched to an online database, this would be part of the professionaling the profession :face-huh: "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu Skill Passport - 1man1desk - 10th May 2007 The prototype 'skills passport' looks fantastic to me, and I am duly awed by the technological wizardry. The 'Project Log' bit looks good for field projects only - it might be worth either changing the 'site name' heading or expanding the entries to allow a record of project type, and 'role performed' might be better than 'position held'. I can see two key uses for this kind of document: 1 - to demonstrate to employers that you hold the skills they have defined as essential or desirable for a particular job; 2 - it could be used to demonstrate skills/experience as part of the validation process for institutional memberships (e.g. IFA grades). The only real issue is that employers, when recruiting, want to look a short CV (ones that are too long often get binned). However, this could be used to back-up/validate the claims made in the CV, particularly at the 'shortlist' stage. 1man1desk to let, fully furnished Skill Passport - BAJR Host - 10th May 2007 All good remarks... and duely noted and will go into V2 thanks for taking the time ... oh.... and being suitabley awed! Khufu Skill Passport - lucy78green - 11th May 2007 I always put down the name of the director of any site I worked on Lucy Skill Passport - BAJR Host - 11th May 2007 I guess I could add project manager "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu Skill Passport - trowelfodder - 13th May 2007 Looks ace and should def help with training programes actualy being used! My only concern is how does it work for those of us who've been at it awhile - how do you backdate it or have i missed the point and its only for training[:I] Skill Passport - BAJR Host - 13th May 2007 Thats a good point there.. and sadly.. its one that starts with ... you have to have a year zero. However.. I would suggest that people who feel they have 'skills' can have them accessed and then 'verified' So you could, within a very short time, have several skills recorded. This also brings up the need for registered trainers - who can sign off people. it ain't easy... but .. as ever BAJR is willing to start somewhere....rather than discuss it. I will stress that the best way for this to move is with the IFA - as the best people to assure that it is carried out properly. "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu |
