Holiday entitlement - oldgirl - 12th June 2007 I seem to remember a thread discussing whether annual leave was in addition to statutory holidays or not, but can't find it. (Maybe I imagined it!) Anyway, this address http://www.dti.gov.uk/employment/holidays/index.html leads to the latest on this issue. It doesn't suggest what a reasonable remuneration might be if you have to work a Bank Holiday however...... Holiday entitlement - kevin wooldridge - 12th June 2007 What you might be confusing is the legislation ('your 20 day holiday entitlement [u]can</u> include statutory holidays') and the scheme that IFA and (I guess) BAJR supports where statutory holidays are [u]in addition</u> to a minimum of 20 days annual leave. I wouldn't bother looking too far for law relating to enhanced pay for working statutory holidays, because there isn't any. You should however get a clause in your contract of employment that states the enhanced rates/time off in lieu that could be earned in the event of working beyond your contracted hours. I would guess that most employers include these as a matter of course... (I now expect a flood of replies suggesting that most archaeological employers don't...[?] Holiday entitlement - achingknees - 12th June 2007 It will change soon though... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6745119.stm Hurrah! Holiday entitlement - oldgirl - 19th June 2007 Yes, the link I quoted leads (or should still do)to an article saying that statutory holidays will be in addition to 20 days soon. Holiday entitlement - Pipeliner - 21st June 2007 Thought you had plenty of time off already "Old Girl" ! [8D] Or are you planning ahead? ![]() But seriously, I think the new legislations does mean that bank holidays and Xmas and Easter etc will now be in addition your twenty days and cannot be counted as part your holiday entitlement Role on the Summer........wish it would hurry up and get here[8D] Holiday entitlement - oldgirl - 25th June 2007 Never enough time off of course...... and I always plan ahead!! That's how I read it. And I agree on the summer! Holiday entitlement - voice of reason - 25th June 2007 20 days plus Bank Holidays aleady a requirement for RAOs, since April this year. Good to see others will be made to follow, though sadly not fully until 2009 now as proposal for implementation watered down. Bank Holiday remuneration is entirely a contractual matter, like every other pay and overtime issue (with the exception of the minimum wage criterion obviously). Holiday entitlement - BAJR Host - 25th June 2007 Quite right VoR... and now not only RAOs have to abide by this, but all adverts on BAJR are bound by these same rules.. (its in the small print) it is also based on a pro rata basis... can't remember exactly, but something like 2.25 days per month worked - somebody must have the real figure at their fingertips... "No job worth doing was ever done on time or under budget.." Khufu Holiday entitlement - drpeterwardle - 25th June 2007 David, "but all adverts on BAJR are bound by these same rules.. (its in the small print) it is also based on a pro rata basis... can't remember exactly," I cant find it either - it is not on to hide conditions like this in the small print. Peter Holiday entitlement - voice of reason - 25th June 2007 also - holiday entitlement is always divided pro rata, but bank holidays come when they come and are not shared out pro rata. |
