Some information on its context would help?
It looks fairly even and symmetrical and therefore machine tooled and quite modern. Obviously though context is the key. No idea of what it is.
The Finds Liaison Officer in the area I work used to e-mail all the local units, specialists with a 'Mystery Friday Object'. This takes me back to those halcyon days....
