Jeremy Hight didf this sort of thing using a gps enabled pda in exploring bits of California and presenting alternative interpretations of well-known and less well-known sites. He called in Narrative Archaeology (http://www.xcp.bfn.org/hight.html), but the archaeology is more in the foucauldian sense than what most of us would immediately think of (the articles are very Theory heavy...). With the advances in mobile phone technology over tha past few years, like others have pointed out, this could be made much more accessible. You could even do the Bill and Ted 'ps - DUCK!' joke by GPS enabled text...:o)
