Hello,
I was recently informed by my employers that as a commercial archaeologist employed in the construction industry, I was exempt from paying national insurance contributions on holiday pay. Unfortunately, this scheme ends in October 2012 but it would still amount to a few hundred quid for the remaining year.
I don't recall this being posted on BAJR before but apologies if it has.
Further details can be found below. I'll find out if this can be claimed for previous years.
Hope this helps people out.

I should add that this appears to only apply to employer schemes with institutions such as CEF, rather than individual employee's applications to HMRC. This being the case, I doubt it would be possible to reclaim NI contributions on holiday pay while not enrolled in the scheme, i.e. reclaim previous NIC. If your employers aren't already enrolled, hassle them!
