PPE kit will now include a set of ruby slippers for all members of the digging team! Glad to hear no one was badly injured.
The big round house at Butser got hit by a mini tornado while I worked there - exciting moments as straw, dust and the odd hazel hurdle got thrown across the interior, where a school group were hiding from the weather.
I heard a tale once of an elsan tent being blown away, leaving the occupant sitting in full view in the field.

Glad to hear that everyone is doing fine...
Sure you have not accidently released an ancient curse that will ravage the nearby village before finally being defeated by a digger with a 'True Heart' and an oddly shaped belly button ring that in fact turns out to be an ancient talism... oh... hold on I'm rambling!
Take care out there!
Another day another WSI?

Best unpredicted H&S disaster:
I heard a story - don't know if it was true - about a dig in central Cyprus at the time of the Turkish invasion (1974?).
According to the story, the diggers were way out in the countryside and a bit cut-off from current events. One day they were surprised to see a lot of Greet Cypriot troops going south in a hurry - closely followed by some Turkish ones, who saw a lot of trenches in the distance and started shelling.
They surrendered very quickly.

I thought forum members might be interested to know that the Baston tornado will feature (so I am told) in a documentary, 'The Year of Weird Weather', due to be broadcast on ITV at 10pm this Thursday.

Some of my old lecturers from UWCN, initials JP (now at Bristol and still stuck up his own A**) and AC (now spouting crap in the Peak District) so I'm told. Sorry to be so cryptic....
