2012 London Archaeolympiad

Well, "we've" won it, so what archaeological events do you think should be included? I'm thinking of entering the Wheelbarrow Steeplechase, the PPG1500 metres and possibly the 4x4 100 metres (for overwieght consultant types).

I'm please that London won, but the sad fact of this is that it's going to strip money wholesale from the Heritage sector for years to come, as we're all tied up with sport in the DCMS. Probably kiss goodbye to loads of lottery-funded projects too.

I reckon that I shall be for the High Jump, at least if I don't finish reviewing this report I shall.

Perhaps we can all try for EH funding to buy new bikes?

Time Team Triathlon (Machining, Trowelling, Hypothesising). Points allocated according to time taken to completion. The whole thing run at a feverish pace over three days (of course).

Ok,
well we could start with the opening ceremony where Tony B Liar could come down and cut the first ceremonial turf, this would kick off the proceedings, events to follow could be:
Discus (using a biscuit tin lid)
Javelin (using the aforementioned ranging pole)
Throwing the hammer (claw for the ladies or lump for the chaps)
Hide and seek (quite popular on dig sites that go on a bit)
The sack race? (we all get it eventually)
Climbing (the career ladder from svelte digger to chubby consultant)
Curling (ladies only event, tongs provided)
Jumping to conclusions (popular)
Knifing the supervisor (in the back naturally)
4x 100 metres relay carrying a tray of hot tea and biscuits?
