And if we need a few extra quid, we could kill the cats, sew up all the holes, fill them with helium and attach a string, and have dead cat balloons. We'd make millions!

I am a new graduate and want to apply for field archaeology jobs, which most want the CSCS card for, however looking at the form I need to fill in to get the card I need an employer to verify that I am competent in Health and Safety. But in order to get the opportunity to show this competence I need the card especially as I haven't had any experience on a construction site yet...this feels like Catch 22. Or maybe I'm missing something? I have already passed the H&S test so this is the last hurdle...Any help would be amazing...

don't know where you are based, but smaller companies will often not require CSCS prior to starting and if they are IfA ROs then they will provide such as and when, which can then of course be taken to your next job

Don't want to be re-igniting the RO/non-RO thing, enough of that on here last year! Basically any unit that has clients that require CSCS (any large construction company, these days), whether RO or non-RO (ie there shouldn't be any difference), has to produce workforces armed with cards, so have to send people to the test centres. Any unit that's requiring people to turn up with them is to my mind taking the p***, although it's not unreasonable to be pleased when people already have them (all money saved is good in our merry commercial world)
