Another outing into the state of UK arcaheology... with a Digger called Chris and myself. kind of a follow up to last week.

Basically..

Field Staff are skilled
Development Work and Research can work together
Developer tax is a non starter
We are poorly paid
We should engage the public more
There is much to do
there is no one quick fix to rescue archaeology
Opening up our work... is a good thing.

Hi just listened to it, I've been in same boat as Chris and also am fortunate enough to have just got another digging post. I too hope things pick up again soon. I also think that greater public involvement and creating interest at a local level may be the way forward. Hopefully that would foster a greater interest and understanding of what we do and what the past means rather than just the 'why should i give a damn about the past, it's boring' attitudes I've recently seen.

Sorry if that sounds like too much of a rant!
