Yes they do. Check out clamping, impounding and release fees charged by the private contractors who actually do the work of keeping those double yellow lines clear.
Personally I think traffic wardens are lucky to get paid at all. They should all be shot.

Hunt them, instead of foxes.
We owe the dead nothing but the truth.

Too right, a boxing day massacre of those 'too short to be policemen'.
Once they are dealt with (and only then) we can put your signature into effect and admit to being parked in a no waiting zone.

could be a new olympic sport for 2012...traffic warden hunting. Oh the joy of chasing them around the streets of london with cars equiped with spikes and things..
sometimes I do like them though..when some idiot in a 4x4 parks in some really inappropriate place just because they can and you see a traffic warden give them a ticket, or some clamping dudes tow them away

Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling just thinking about it

Yes or people without blue badges parking in disabled spaces, which always irritates me.

I quite liked them when I lived in a town centre with 'residents only' parking, but usually had to park over a mile away because of all the illegal parking by commuters.

I agree, they need some sort of control measures!
Sterilisation would be a good start, try the two house brick method, it doesnt hurt if you keep both thumbs out of the way!
