Just spotted this one on the web.
An archaeological unit that fails to take care of its own historic environment...

Sorry, they seem to have a strange address coding system.

Hmmm..........
From the link-it sounds as though some archaeologists can`t be bothered to give members of the public the time of day.Even when they wish to express an opinion on the treatment of an ex-place of worship...bit of a PR own-goal for the unit in question and the profession on the whole?:face-huh:Nicely spotted-many thanx!

And that even though the unit in question has a dedicated historic building recording and conservation department...[?]

Steady, steady, I think the story may be a bit more complicated than is reported in the paper. The church is in the Buildings at Risk Register and itâs going to cost a lot of money to get it up to scratch. It looks like AOC (if they actually own it at all â the BARR doesnât mention them) inherited getting on for 30 years worth of cumulative problems. Hereâs the rather depressing link.

The BARR shows that the owner is:
AOC Holdings
7 Edgefield Road Industrial Estate
Loanhead
Midlothian
EH20 9SY
Companies House Reg No: 0196924SC
Is there a link between the companies?
Or is it possible, shock! horror!, that the true tennets of journalistic tradition were not upheld and the Perthshire Advertiser got its facts slightly to cock?
Happiness depends on ourselves.

People.... please try and remember the basic rules..
This is not a forum for 'naming and shaming' or 'witch-hunting'
I have asked in the past and will again ask... before people put up items that name companies.. You must check with me first. As it stands, the report, may/may not give the whole story, and as such to bring the BAJR Forum into the realms of Private Eye.. is not good for me.. or us as a whole. With these sort of stories.. my knowledge beforehand is essential.. I don't want to delete whole chunks..
As it stands... and I have talked to AOC about this... they took on the church - at their expense to try and drive forward a funding for conservation.. they have now been landed with a massive building that they only took on to help... and now have been kind of 'landed with' They are trying still to find a suitable conservation plan...
So... as you can see... Although the Perthshire Advertiser may look at it and find it easy to 'blame' AOC.. this is not the full story --- It never is.
Thats why you talk to me first. However.. as this is a public news story, then I will leave it in place..... there is always another side though...
