BAJR would like to thank those companies that have decided to go for the 5% or better pay rise... putting people first.. thus getting staff who will be more motivated.
I hope to put up a list (as it comes in) of Companies who get the 'Gold Star' or perhaps Outwage would consider this..? so we know who is worthy of praise.

These increases have nothing to do with the petition and BAJR.
What they do have to do with is a current shortage of diggers and the laws of supply and demand.

Absolutely Peter... BAJR would never be able to force these issues.. The pay is in responce to the lack of fieldstaff.. due to a glut of work...
This could have a greater affect on wages than anything we try and do

Outwage would be happy to give praise where it's due, but not so sure about stars.....smacks a bit of outdated educational elitsm to moi
....I will think of something more archaeological (and probably vegetable based!!) Big Golden Bananas maybe.
Of course the real bonus for the companies offering higher wages is that they will attract applications from a higher calibre of archaeologist (to whom Golden Bananas would really mean something).

Here you have hit the proverbial with the other proverbial..
Higher wages must = staff who are actually worth it which must = staff who have been trained to that level (and got experience)
Proper training (NOT on-the-job) but staff have to be worth the wage as well as the wage being equal to the staff !
if that all makes sense! Golden Nanna it is!

Can't be working that well Vulpes, a quick glance at other recent adverts suggests that many companies have not risen to the challenge and either have no problem recruiting site assistants for around £3k less than the ASC ad is offering, or that they don't read the competitions adverts and like frittering away their advertising budget.
Maybe the advertised salary is not down to supply and demand, maybe it's the location - you have to pay a premium or people will not move to MK [:0].
With reference to other contributions to this thread I'd point out that the ad offers £17,618 to those with six months and above experience, not only to Robo-Archaeologist. Further, the planned expansion of the city is likely to result in a lot of archaeological work in and around MK during coming years - so long as the economy and current construction boom do not go bang.
Happiness depends on ourselves.
