Scribd is a site where you can store your documents - doc, ppt, pdf, xls, etc and share them with others. You can also embed a document in your blog or web page.
Just an example of what I am doing now as well...

it was super simple... and would be a good repository for reports... ! that could be directly linked to from your own site, without taking up space on your server!... and is more accessible than OASIS..
though of course that is essential.

It is very easy to knock OASIS when compared to this. But really there's no comparison - it's a bit like comparing 'big yellow storage' to the National Museum of Scotland.

Hmmm.
They seem to be experiencing a 'technical hiccup', and won't let me load the page. Good idea though. I just produced a 30MB Word document, far too unwieldy to email to anyone.

Vulpes... no knocking of Oasis intended... use it, love it.. very easy etc..... this is different - however more public.. and allows integration into your own site.. as Oxbeast says... rather than send a large document... upload it and send a link... etc....
Different but a good resource to have... I will be relocating all BAJR documents, Reference Documents, and all my Consultancy Reports (where allowed) ... put it all in a group... and bob is your proverbial... plus of course my OASIS as well.

phew... as you say different beasts... but SCRIBD would suit the good ol public..
while OASIS is a more powerful but for more academic use..

a new scribd group for uploading archaeology documents... any local groups? any spare documents? either sign up and join the club.. upload your documents OR send pdfs to me (under 5 meg please) and I will do it all for you....
Not a replacement to OASIS searchable through the ADS ! but an added extra ...
