On BBC 4 this Sunday, a whole evening of archaeology programmes:
8.10 The Treasures of Tutankhamun (archive programme from c. 1972)
9.00 Digging the Past (how archaeology became a hit on TV beginning in the 1950s)
10.00 Silbury: the Heart of the Hill
11.00 Sir Mortimer Wheeler: a Life in Ruins (repeated at 8.30 on Monday)
Also, at 7.00, episodes 1-3 of a John Pertwee Doctor Who where he goes to an archaeological dig where a tomb is acting as a cell for ancient evil!
Episodes 4-5 are on Monday at 7.40.
Enjoy! boy I love the Dr Who episode... the scary mummy gatekeepers.. !

Sorry for commenting with my nerd hat on Mr. Hosty, but you'll be disappointed in that Dr. Who if you're waiting for the Mummies. They're in "Pyramids of Mars" with Tom Baker. The one they're showing is "The Daemons" with Jon Pertwee and the most excellent Roger Delgado as The Master. It is equally wicked however. [:p]

Thank goodness it's not that atrocious one with Sylvester McCoy and the knights of King Arthur. Although the archaeologist they featured in it was possibly the closest to a real archaeologist I've ever seen. His dig looked like a scruffy evaluation trench with nothing in it and he was underfunded and had no staff
Looking forward to the Tut documentary though. I remember seing as a wee lad in 72,just before going to queue for the exhibition.

I'm sorry Mr. Hosty! I could add that it has a cool evil Gargoyle that shoots fire out of it's fingers if that's any consolation?

10 Points to Gumbo for knowing the name of the Gargoyle! Now how's your luck - you can double it if you know the name of the sinister Vicar! :face-huh:
