I was just on the TORC homepage and I noticed an announcement for a new measured survey summer school with more details in the news section. So I clicked on the news section, but I'd missed it, as it was on in 2004. This was news item number two, and item number one was from 2008. It seems there really is a training crisis in British archaeology.

This has been pointed out to them a few times, that info is out of date ... and updates are patchy. indeed it could be said that BAJR has the most up to date course list (see the main bajr site)
http://www.bajr.org/BAJREducation/
I do understand the hassle though, as courses change and close or open frequently, asking the course provider to update their section has not worked... some do some don't, so you end up still having to spend weeeks going through every place and collecting courses. -- which is tough when it is just me! the other place on BAJR for short coourses, training and CPD has been a small success...
http://www.bajr.org/Employment/UKTraining.asp but again... even though it is totally free to put a course up... you still have trouble getting people to put it up.
The crisis is both in the unwillingness for many course providers to promote the course... as widely as possible ... and the need for those (like myself) who provide the course data in a database, to keep it up to date and proactively look for it.
