David,
this is an excellent idea, and given what you have said about your mother's support of your early career, and of others, a very suitable cause of something dear to both of your hearts.
Giving support to those needing it right at the start of a possible passion/interest or gawd help them 'career' is a fantastic thing to be able to do and will hopefully help inspire future archaeologists to be able to get out there and get started.
Well done. She would be proud. Just wish I could make a contribution.
