This is an interesting one that we've been discussing at work ourselves lately and the truth is that we couldnt agree on a reason. Guess thats the thing really - for all the bad things about archaeology when you sit down and examine what maks us unhappy and frustrated about our jobs its not the archaeology itself, its the proffession. In a way its the archaeology and the worry about what would happen if we didnt do it that actually makes us stay!!
