The titles of the modules (links on the IFA website) indicate that the NVQs are definitely intended for fieldwork, but including the management/office side of fieldwork (especially at Level 4).
For many (or most?) other fields or specialisms, other qualifications are probably more appropriate - e.g. MA/MSc.
Re. above; This is really not the case. Whilst the system really requires refinement it does stand at the moment available for speciailisms etc. i myself have the NVQ and i'm a finds specialist.
Despite this i voted the second option, it IS a good idea but i cant see the uptake being meaningful enought to make any thing out of it. Its money at a time when many are struggling and for a current non-necessity i just dont think it will take off.
I personally feel it could never takes the place of my other degrees (including Masters) but at the end of the day this is not or never claimed to be its purpose. It gives me a sense of practical achievement not associated with the more academic side of degrees....(its also an easy for for an employer to see you do have experience in a practical environment, report writing etc. including grey lit.)
(also a reply WAY late after topic began....
