Everyone- I`m really quite touched by your responses. It really was`nt my intention to prompt offers of help, only to highlight the concept that the SLC are on a nice little scam when it comes to graduate archaeologists working on the circuit. If we`re away working and don`t have the opportunity to send in the deferrment on time, they pro-actively choose to default us whereby they can (apparently quite legally) demand that we pay them back in full or, have an attachment to earnings enforced by a court that can`t see the embezlement for what it is. I wonder just how many others are out there with similar problems with the SLC? For some of us, including me, an attachment to earnings will seriously hamper our abilities to travel the country/pay for accommodation (not uncommon) and feed ourselves whilst away. Surely, this can`t be right. Mr Hosty-thank you for your very kind offer but, please don`t be offended as I decline. I`m not sure what I will do next, probably write to my M.P or pay the fee and have my day in court. I have a sneaking feeling that technically, the court will support the SLC as I have albeit unintentionally, breached my contract. Future archaeology undergrads beware! Mr Hosty, thankyou. I have to thank Doctor Wardle especially for his kind offer as I have in the past (on here) been quite rude to him. Thanks. I think Dr Wardles idea of a hardship fund is a good one too and I will gladly contribute to that. Again-many heartfelt thanks to all-will let you know how things pan out.[:I]}
