Didnt really want to reply unless i was gonna offer a paper. However, Troll and BAJR this would potentially be really good and important.
Trolls post on 'consultants and all that': something about the different strands of the profession and its current organisation would be very good. All of the IFA stuff that has been done on this is very economic 'facts and figures' led and doesnt really spell out what this actually means on the ground. You Could get an old lag to start it off e.g. 'when i was living in a tent in the 1960's' and then go forward chronologically to the situation now. There was an Interpreting Stratigraphy conference in York, 2001, that touched on stuff like this, although it was more organisation of fieldwork (e.g. democratisation and post-Hodder stuff) but I dont think its seen the light of day.
Would the Invisible diggers/ diggers forum do something?
