Quite. the media is the problem. as far as on-screen representation goes anyway. Is it really as simple as a under-representation of ones own ethnic group though? I'm pretty sure that my own interest in the past was fuelled by a fascination with people generally, ethnic background was really never a factor. I find it hard to believe that a generation of children/people is so dependant on the media, that the media forms the yardstick by which it measures its its own life choices. Well, I hope it doesn't anyhow, maybe I'm showing my age. There really IS something wrong though, as attested by my earlier post regarding the ethnic make-up of the uni course I'm on; that and 15 odd years in the field, during which I may have met as many as 2 non-white personnel. Can't be right.
