As I understand it The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003 require an employment agency to pay both travel expenses and provide suitable accomodation for staff who have to be away from home.
This may be one of the good things to come out of being employed through an agency rather than directly by the agency client, although at the end of the day all of these costs (including the agency fee) are passed onto the client. As we all know, project budgets are often very limited and the cost of the Archpeople service may prove beyond the resources of many archaeological employers.
