I agree with you. My point was that if you were to adress a group of undergraduates and say 1 Man 1 desk was to address a different groups - i would imagine two very different views would be portrayed, as you would expect. However, who is 'right'?? - providing these view points are presented as opinions of the individual this does not matter. All I am saying is that those who do discuss a potential career in archaeology with potential future archs have a tremendous responsibility to portray as accurate a picture - good and bad bits. But this should not (in my opinion b4 you or anyone else starts) consist of painting the worst picture based on one individuals personal experiences.
Career talks should involve a certain degree of research into all of the potential avenues and career paths which people could take - ebven if the person presenting the 'talk' has very form beliefs or opinions.
Basically i am in no way having a go here - what Im suggesting is that we have to be very careful when doing t his type of thing - the responsibility is huge - thats all
