You'll find lots of recipes for Stovies (always in the plural)by googling the term. These vary a lot, but this basically consists of frying vegetables in dripping and then leaving them to cook slowly in a pot with a little water until they've turned into a sludgy mass. I would use tatties, carrots and neeps (swedes to you), with leftover bits of a roast if you can afford such a thing. Yum.
