To play devils advocate.. if you are in free accomodation you are paying the same as if you are at home... you can shop and cook - as opposed to B&B type acomodation where subsistance is esential as you are 'forced' to eat out.
Not nessecarily - as you cant carry much stuff away with you you always end up spending loads to get in all the essentials that you never think of like cooking oil, salt so to bring yourself up to the normal level you have to buy lots of things at the same time that you dont usually do. And the upkeep on other houses often has to be kept up - and often if you normally share the cost of shopping for two lots of one is much more expensive than sharing a food shop.
And in the building industry its standard to be given an allowence for working away from home so why shouldnt we be afforded the same consideration?
And on the same job how come the other two companies can pay subs but not this one? Maybe someones making a bit more profit off the backs of its diggers? And judging by some of the accom it has offered you wouldnt want to cook or eat in the accom!!!
