Greetings unit. For me, a paper trail allows for the systematic planning of projects within a professional context. It also allows for the often disparate contributions to any given project to be included within a body of checkable data. In all honesty, commercial archaeology does as it pleases anyway and is answerable to no-one.Professionally drafted reports have to be a must if we are to stand any chance of moving away from the scenario where grey-sock and sandal 70s diggers (now directors) continue to treat the finite resource as a good day out and a financial asset. There are too many units operating without adequate checks and balances already. There are also units who can move from the birth of a project through to completion without as much as one decent written document. I have to disagree sir- projects undertaken without paperwork are little more than heritage rape and an attempt to carry out that rape in the full knowledge that one can escape recourse for ones actions.Tiz called a cover-up sir
