I think the pair of you are missing the point.
What you are arguing about is cameras, not the archaeology. I have been on site with people in dark churches who have said -'...have you got a flash on that?'..I reply to them, '...yes, I have a flash - I also have three settings on my camera that I take it w/o a flash and - by the way - can you bring in the generator and lights?'.
The key 'primary record' is the photography. I do understand that it has to be done well, but Uo1 has cameras. It's his job.
I have cameras. It's my job. No specialist photographers are needed.
