It's a great idea. However, even in this (theoretically) ideal situation you have to be careful. They've had these for years in Italy, though the structure is set up as a co-operative. Unfortunately, what's happened on a number of occasions is that the co-operative will offer you work, then offer to pay you with a share of the project. Alternatively, many seem to go bankrupt just at the end of the project. Nett result= you've been shafted!!!! They then reform the Co-op under a different name and start again. However, in saying that, i would hope that the law is a little more stringent here, which would make this sort of con quite difficult. In Italy, it seems to happen quite regularly, and not just in archaeology, but in all sectors, as both my brother and sister have discovered to their cost. Don't you just love Berlusconi!!!!!!!!
