While "Mortimer" may suit the campaign's requirements for a not-so-obscure-or-meaningful-but-still-has-archaeological-associations name perfectly, it does not have the ring it needs. Plus any name which means -- at least in part -- "death" is probably not a good idea.
That said, any name will probably function so long as it captures the public's imagination in the right way. Have you approached any people with experience in advertising, marketing, or PR?
