Jack Wrote:'Conflict' is almost definitely the driving force behind evolution be it biological or social. But 'war' is just a part of the continuum of conflict.
No matter what our liberal sensibilities tell us we are all constantly at conflict - with the environment, with the other creatures (and plants) around us - especially bacteria, viruses etc. and with each other.
I bet you every adaption can be traced to a conflict somewhere.
But........I am of course not saying the war is the root of all invention (only some). War is usually little more than a disagreement between very few people with power..........unfortunately those few then drag the rest of us into it.
Hope springs eternal, but I doubt Humans will ever give up conflict unless they are forced too (by conflict! - see Equilibrium or Rollerball)
Will Humans ever give up the concept of conflict?...Nope, because, as the old saying goes..'The enemy of my enemy-is still my enemy'
