I read a short article a year or tow back aboutthe funding of Scotland - in essence it said that, although each member of the population of Scotland gets a larger amount from the Exchequer than each member of the population of England, this amount is less than the amount that each Scot contributes to the exchequer so, overall, Scotland contributes more to the central funding of the UK than it recieves back - I have no idea of the basis of this calculation but it was written by a Scottish Conservative MSP.
