I agree with you about the glass - half empty rather than half full.
It should not be possible to get away with shoddy work at all. At the same time, 'just adequate' is pretty disappointing - we should all be aiming for 'best practice' all the time. I wouldn't be happy with these voting results unless we were getting more than 50% on options 1 and 2, and none on option 5.
