You're probably right about the career limiting prospects of such a move, which is interesting because all conditions are legally binding, and many are considerably more expensive and time consuming for developers to comply with. In a month where at least one case of a developer has been told to knock an entire development down because they failed to get the appropriate planning permission, maybe it's time for people to start taking discharge of conditions more seriously.
