The sooner that archaeology moves away from the idea that the results must be formally published in monographs, local or regional journals, period journals etc the better. I suspect that publication is a financial burden to most smaller companies and is a subsidised stick for the big companies which they can use to beat down upon their smaller local rivals. I think online dissemination of the raw data and accompanying articles is the way to go.
