very easy to forge 'leaked' emails.......
Though I wouldn't put it passed either elements in the rebel forces, CIA or MI6 (or is it MI5?), defence companies, or weapon manufacturers to stage such an 'attack.'
However, its well known and documented that the Assad regime has chemical weapons and has been developing them to limit the detectability, i.e. maximising the effect whilst minimising any parts/ residues left behind. (can't find the article now though

Its a complex issue with no side (seems there is at least four sides) coming out smelling of roses in my opinion.
But yes, military intervention by the US is never a good thing............but what is the alternative? Let them blow hell out of each other, whilst 'civilians' are murdered or starve.
