There is indeed, especially if other people not within the DF expect more from them than they signed up to do in the first place.
In reply to Monty's point - yes, I was told I was a 'boss' and not able to join early on (as I said right at the start of this thread).
Perhaps part of the issue here is people not knowing exactly what the 'job description' for each of these organisations is? Certainly IfA's role has often been mis-understood in the past. So what exactly are you thining Mr Hosty? I'm with Bob that I don't think another 'union' is a good idea. I have a reasonable idea what IfA does, I have no idea what Prospect do any more, I don't really know what DF do, as I'm not in it.
(BTW, as a boost to DF work, when I was more involved in the Validation Committee for IFA they did stirling work in arguing successfully for a better understanding and rating of 'diggers' work - something I fully agreed with!)
(Sorry if this all sounds slightly negative, I've used up all my energy today explaining how archaeology and planning works to Job Centre Plus and pointing out that they can't spell 'archaeology'......)
