hi there,
In relation to invitation/ application only membership to groups i think it would be adventageous to have a 'floating' lottery monitors for the basis of membership decisions.
just so the notion of a too self indulegent interest group expells for any untoward reasoning.
not to say it does but it could if there is serious utilization of this as an industry resource.
something worth thinking about may be something along the lines of how trusts have staff and members but staff are not allowed to be members due to a conflict of interest develops.
A jargon busting thesurus of potential ideas and organisations would be helpful, without necessarily interupting dicussion flow.
i think in relation to the what kind of member are you i think it would be good to have a filling in fields info sheet on each member in their own definitions. maybe even with a query system if possible but thats getting a bit heavy.
If we want accrediation i think this will fall short of the whole principle of working alongside other organisations. dififferent aspects and relative freedoms.
if you want accreditation then there is an automatic filter placed on anything said due to liability and validity assurance.
if we wish to pursue a free flow of relevant discussion whilst also maintaining transparency, i think a christmas amnesty of access to the membership forum groups so the dialogues open up annually and are visally archive visible to last month. kind of like seeing where the discussion is going AND THEN YOU GET THE AGM.
that way the specialist groups don't become too exclusive or unassailable, whilst maintaining a validity to such an idea.
In terms of transparency hows about a time sheet idex list for the moderators and active managers.
visble on the home pages of each group or the general site one. I guess that depends on the level of work people work on each of the groups.
i saw this one site called mind gym where your activity status determines how active you are at any given point, but for group and general monitoring this would have to have another form of id for the type of activity (posting, modrating, and data management)
about funding, hows about charity statusand a group for fund raising like sponsored runs and such within external interested groups, organisations and networks.
we are all too oftn ready to run our mouths off.......
are the group links also going to be closed to the relevant groups/ indiviuduals or open on a specialsit dialogue?
hope this is helping
