Realising that unless there is a specific need to teach, it is not their job to excavate each individual feature. That's the excavator's job. The director/ supervisor makes sure that all the bits join up, that the questions get answered and by constantly communicating with their diggers makes sure that the questions change appropriately. They're the level that makes sure that things run, that H&S works, the loos are there, the kettle is on and knows what to say to the contractors who just want you to b****r off. And they're generous with the cake.
