It's run by a small team of archaeologists headed up by Chris Webster. The map, though small, can be filtered to display archaeological sites/monuments/historic landscapes over OS data, aerial photos from the 1940's, and aerial photos from 2001.
Though getting on a bit in web terms, it remains an excercise in how it should be done.
