I think that the whole point about Prospect/the IPMS is that it represents people from a great many professions, not only archaeologists. Think on, brothers and sisters: if every archaeologist in Britain downed tools tomorrow, who'd notice? Union representation is only meaningful when you've got enough solidarity over a wide enough section of society that, if it comes to the ultimate sanction of withdrawing your labour, the effects will be tangible by those to whom the actual issues are irrelevant.
