There are hardly any existing roman bridges in the UK, you've probably never seen one.
What is the great scheme, fantasy archaeology?

Most archaeologists are aware of the shortcomings of TT - I suspect even the archaeologists who work on the programme - its, all said and done, TV entertainment that relies on viewer numbers to keep going. If you don't like what they do, try going on to the TT forum raise your concerns.
In support of BAJR (like any other forum) - his forum, his rules and if you don't like them - go away. Remember that its the forum owner who is ultimately responsible for content - if you want to sign up to pay his legal fees when someone sues for libel after a posting then perhaps the AUP could be adjusted on your behalf.

I have to agree with that. The BAJR forum is unique in that it is a service that allows for frank and open dialogue that is neither welcomed or tolerated elsewhere. Mister Hosty does this at his own expense and in my view, deserves the acknowledgement and support of us all. Not only is it a huge multi-faceted resource and a gateway to a world of all things heritage, but a free job listing service taboot. I don`t think that most subscribers here are aware of the tireless efforts put in by Mr Hosty on our behalf-no trumpets, no bells and whistles asked for, some of the changes for the better we have seen over the years are at least in part (if not completely) due to the work of the website owner.
In that light, the AUP has to be adhered to. I openly admit to contravening the AUP in the past with some fairly serious consequences....acts of crass stupidity on my part. I have learnt (from participation on here) that my own experiences and opinions (sometimes expressed through clenched teeth) chime with those of others in the profession but often do not. Dialogue on here has shown that it is our collectively rich but diverse voices that actually, is one of our greatest assets. By and large, we all want to move in the same direction and express that in different ways. Thats our strength. For me, after lurking on here for a while, I have learnt to see the issues we face as systemic rather than as individual or corporate failings. Finger-pointing is largely pointless and detracts from the goals.
If driven by your experiences to take a pro-active stance, there are formal complaints procedures off-line that can be approached. I can testify to their efficiency too. Oh yes indeedy! There really is no need to contravene the AUP and risk the good work of BAJR as an entity, concepts can be discussed on here ( `vigorously` !) if a subscriber takes the time to breathe in before posting. One can be quite controversial and close to the bone if careful language and a structured argument is presented.

That frank, honest and heart-felt post was more than appreciated.. though of course you make me blush... I am nothing without all of you.
ahem...
That said... you say it all. this place is for everyone, with a very loose reign, but rools is rools
indeed these rules ensure that we can have these discussions.
Not liking the Time Team is perfectly acceptable... as an opinion.... not like BAJR is also an opinion.
as troll says.... breathe first and then post.... a well constructed argument that does not get all pointy and personal can be much better. I have even fallen foul of my own AUP... and was brought to heel as well. Vigour in discussion... but no anger.
Plus...

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
