Not sure that I follow. The point of lobbying your MP is to express your views and wished, and urge him/her to express those wishes in the House or to take other appropriate action to advance that cause. Naturally this is open to all views and opinions, even those that are in opposition to yours and mine, including those of this rather obnoxious and ignorant CE!
So, I would not deny myself an MP or representation in Parliament simply because I did not agree with the general views of the elected member, and would not expect anyone else to. Similarly I would not wish to deny anyone else such representation simply because their views do not accord with my own.
I rather fancied this was democracy.

It is surely clear as day that other organisations have absolutely no intention of introducing coherent change.Further- as it seems that other organisations who play no legal role in the industry seem to feel that they can demand "proof" in the legal sense before investigating malpractise-isnt it time that we excercised our rights and appealed to our elected representatives? I must admit that I would feel uncomfortable approaching the dodgier elements of parliament but-hey, start somewhere. Tiz a national issue affecting us all. I for one am bored stupid with internal ego-tennis and would prefer to appeal to a mandated body anyway.Lets do it-write to MPs....giz a look at their respective responses here.........

So why would an MP, or Parliament in general, or anyone else, take action against individuals or groups for "malpractice" without proof?
Do you think that it would be a Good Thing if the legal system was changed to allow this?

Jim Lewthwaite was a contemporary and good friend of mine at Bradford. Of the class of 1983 postgraduates/research assistants three are involved in politics. Two are councillors. Im the one who has not won an election.
I respect anybody who is prepared to fight elections and be a councillor.
I think that you will find that professional archaeologists are in fact elected to most councils and assemblies except parliament. (There was one but he stood down at the last election). The father of the house however is a fellow of the society of antiquaries.
The current political issue is in fact why have the recommendations that the All Party Parliamentary Group made which could have been implemented by archaeologists themselves not been implemented.
