Ok... this has gone its full course...
Here is a dose of reality, based on me calling around.
If people want to start threads like this, and go into feeding frenzy... call me first. thanks
1. This is not a development site
2. The developer who is part funding it, is actually genuinly intersted in archaeology and has actually funded projects in the past.. not becasue he was told, but because he felt it should be.
3. The ratio is ten staff to 20 volunteers. No volunteers will be left to dig a fragile roman child skeleton (before you ask)
4. A full report will be made about this
5. THe Navenby Archaeology Group
(http://navenbyarchgp.org/Default.aspx) are very excited about this as are other groups.
6. Colin from PCA is away on holiday jsut now, however, I am aware that this area has been one he took a keen interest in for over a decade. This is continuing that.
7. No archaeologists have lost a job because of this... indeed, 10 archaeologists are working becasue of this.
8. This is NOT 500 vollys at once, but spread over 28 days
9. PCA are NOT a sole trader.
10. A lot of companies are NOT ROs indeed many of those who will be BAJR Feds are NOT ROs does not make em bad does it :face-huh:
11. This is a story that got misconstrued, and took a lot of my time and effort to contact people and piece together the story...
Talking of story... this excavation will hopefully be in the July Edition of Past Horizons, as an example of how commercial companies can emerge from behind the Herris FEnce to engage and inspire... so watch out for the story then.
Until then... move along there please ladies and gentlemen... nothing more to see
