I think this is a very exciting project and is certainly catching the interest of many on the UKDN.
I only wish I was able to attend, it sounds like the Woodstock of metal detecting...
I think Davids efforts in this cannot be understated, it is a hugely positive step forward.
Easydigger raises a good point in respect of pottery etc being recorded, it seems that the perception in the main towards metal detectorists is that their only interest is in the 'bling', not so... habitually when detecting, one is also conducting and eyes only scan over the surface as well.

Ive had some contact with PhD student Suzie Thomas.
I think she has chosen a fascinating subject for her PhD for sure.

Have em loaded into my computers! and on GPS... also ensures we steer well clear of the newly Scheduled Area.. which follow a contour... ( or the line of the CSS land ) The one I use is

They assure me that it is purely coincidental.. as they had intended to schedule already. It did not matter though... as the area of cropmarks had already been removed from the detecting area..
