All this talk of Humberside, kratzers and Oz leaving things in his attic is bringing back fond (and not so fond) memories of 1994. I am pleased that Oz is still alive and well, even if Humberside and kratzers are no longer with us...

1-Tried out my new shiny WHS/Tyzack trowel on a section today-fantastic!!:face-approve:
2-Got no time for Kratzers :face-confused:
3-Humberside only existed on maps, in reality folks were still either in Yorkshire-or even better, LINCOLNSHIRE [8D]

Still fancy a kratzer, but i think the WHS/Tyzack would make a fine substitute. :face-approve:
Before moving up North only 2 years ago I was still getting post addressed as South Humberside, even though we've been North East Lincolnshire for well over 10 years...

East Riding exists, although as a unitary authority District Council and not a County Council.
Unlike West Riding or WestYorkshire which don't exist at all!
I am originally from Middlesex, which definitely does not exist except in the eyes of the Post Office, the FA, the ENgland and Wales Cricket Thing and Russell Grant.
Sorry, way off topic........

I thought that it was the People's Republic of South Yorkshire that didn't exist?

If memory serves, like West Yorkshire, there is no South Yorkshire authority of any level but a bunch of MBCs.
This is all not to be confused with the old thing about the Ridings: there never was a South Riding.
None of which has anything to do with trowels...

Same in the West Midlands, the administrative county still exists for some things (like postal addresses) but is not an authority in its own right, it consists of several MBCs. I think there is a "South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service" as a hangover from the days of the Peoples' Republic, just as there is still as "Hereford and Worcester Fire Service" despite the merged counties of 1974 being de-merged after not very long.
Of course Borsetshire, which is not at all fictional, lies somewhere between Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire...
